Special Pesach Shopping Night
I
t has become a tradition for the community to have the
DUHC arrange a special evening before Pesach for the
community to purchase Pesach products at Pick ‘n Pay,
Musgrave. This year was no exception and eager shoppers
were greeted by Pick ‘n Pay personnel who handed out UOS
Pesach guides and special offers. This successful evening
saw a large number of the community filling their trolleys
with a wide range of Pesach products and delicacies, taking
advantage of the exclusive shopping opportunity after
regular store hours. In a festive atmosphere, the community
crowded the store aisles, making their purchases while
enjoying a delicious buffet dinner provided by the DUHC,
all of which added to the shopping experience and the
excitement of anticipating the festival.
The community thanks Selma Lurie for once again catering
and successfully planning and coordinating the evening with
the store management who ensured the timely availability
and wide variety of Pesach products, giving the community
this special service.

The Young Israel Centre hosted 4 Habonim madrichim during March for a weekend. The madrichim enjoyed a delicious dinner on
the Friday night at the Young Israel Centre, filled with lively and interesting discussions about various topics, including the youth
of Durban and how to engage them.
The Young Israel Centre has hosted a number of informal functions during March. It has been wonderful to see the centre so full
of young Jewish families socialising and celebrating together, as well as the centre being made such good use of.

It has been an exciting term with the children learning about numerous aspects of Judaism from Kidvai Kodesh, as well as history
of the Jewish people, Chagim and various shiurim.
One of the primary school projects was to make their own Haggadah while learning about Pesach and they then made a wonderful
Pesach presentation to take home to their parents, which included Kosher pesach wine, matzah, Eliyahu’s cup, and their haggadah.
The students are also learning through their different booklets about Derech Eretz and it is very interesting to hear their ideas and
report backs on what they have learnt. We are really blessed to be able to teach such special menschadik children in Durban!!
The Talmud Torah team wish everyone a Chag Pesach Sameach.
